I recently finished a unique wedding portrait of a fun looking couple from Australia. One day, I received an email from a guy in London, England, looking to have a unique gift idea for his friends who recently married. He wanted to give them something different, and through a blog, found my illustrations. He had a great idea in this wedding illustration to have this couple laughing, surrounded by games in trees and standing on a life-sized checkerboard, which wasn’t too much different from the photos he sent. I thought this was a great idea, which would make it relate even more to the couple because it has a special element in there for them.

I always love hearing people’s suggestions and ideas, because if there is something unique to that couple (or person) that I’m drawing, it makes it even more special to them when receiving it. I get a lot of pets being added into the illustrations, but this is the first tree as a background image. This was an incredibly fun and challenging illustration to do as a unique wedding gift idea.
